earthquake in china...
As most of you will know, on May 12th 2008 - China had a huge earthquake 7.8 scale. Usually typically - I am pretty numb. Like yes.. these things happens... i will donate some money.
But this time around, maybe because I am in Hong Kong - all the attention is drift to the earthquake. I did my share - everytime someone asks me to donate.. I will be like.. sure.. and i will throw in a 100..
But I want to write this blog regarding how proud I am as a chinese, especially a Hong'er... lol.. in a small piece of land of 7 million population had raised a 0.9billion dollars. Now, that is a lot of money. Also the ones who can't donate as much, they went to volunteer. I saw on TV around 8am that they are asking people to help on the street to ask people to donate money. So I called around 10am, and ALL THE SPOTS WERE TAKEN! I was so shocked. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT? On the the streets, old grandmas, little kids, moms, dads, teenagers - had all gather to volunteer in different ways. Little kids in school (including my 13 year old cousin who's in high school) had donate money, draw cards for the victims. When I went shopping today, a lot of stores by that I mean at least 30% of the stores in the mall - had said they will donate all the profits for the day to the cause.
As we know, during Hurricane Katrina - it took President Bush 4 days to arrive in Lousiana. But it took the Primse Minster 90 minutes to start heading toward the earthquake zone. He arrived in less than 5 hours. He stayed there for 88 hours. Encouraging people, telling kids that he will find them food. I SWEAR he has tears coming out from his eyes when he was talking to this 4 year old girl. 88 hours later, he left and the President took over. By the end of the 3 days he was there, I SWEAR he aged like 20 years. The President and the PM had switched duties. They took turns being there and turns hosting emergency meetings.
One of the HK TV station was asking the PM for an interview. The bodyguards were protecting the PM. But the PM found out that the reporter was from HK. He was like... I do have something to say to the people in HK.
When I was watching the news, everytime the resue team had found someone - they will be cheering and all encourage and pumped again and go resue people.
This is the time I can proudly say I am happy to be a Chinese.

I AM HERE
well.. its pretty good since i arrived... i been seeing a lot of family and stuff...
but i have to share my funny story everrrr...
so this is what happened...
i was at a bank... and i wanted to set up a new investment banking account... so this guy called "seth" came to help me out.. he was a very chill guy.. and we were joking and stuff...
but then the whole time.. there was this creepy guy walking by staring at me.. but the creepy guy looked familiar. REALLY familiar.
so i was kinda sitting there staring at him while he was staring at me. (btw.. creepy guy works at the bank)
finally Seth walked me out.. and walked me to a counter so i can deposit my monnneeyy from canada into my account here.
at that time, the creepy guy came up to me and was like... YOU LOOK REALLY FAMILIAR. i dont know why. so i replied.. "you do too." we started talking and trying to figure out how we know each other.
and then Seth came by and was like.. oo. Lilian here is also from Toronto.
the creepy guy was like... OH MY GOSH.. you are lilian... thats why..
at that time.. Lilian was like seriously this =_=" i dont know you...
creepy guy: we met at docks last summer.. i was trying to to get your number.. and then you gave me your fake number!! YOU ARE ALBERT'S FRIEND!
Lilian: =_=" (thinking to herself... out of all places in this world... a bank in hong kong is the last place she imagine to be seeing a guy she rejected)
creepy guy: hey.. seriously now.. give me your real number.
Lilian: uhh.. okayyy...
SO thats what happened in the first 24 hours that Lilian is in HK...
